When John Hutchinson was a small child his mother often entertained him with a story of a young mouse’s first visit to the seashore. John carried her short tale in his memory for 70 years, eventually deciding to put it down in book form.
Bertie’s Adventure at the Beach is an elaboration of his recollection of her story. The drawings are from the hand of his talented daughter Scout and are colored by the author.
While his first book was intended as an educational tale, Bertie and the Lost Treasure of Skull Island is purely an adventure story filled with moments of excitement for which John supplied the illustrations.
